Seems like a simple ask; a need for someone willing to take part. To meet, and talk.
The topic of conversation: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT?
- Raising your hand is easy.
- Asking questions is allowed.
- Answering honestly will not cause penalties.
- There are no wrong answers.
At the point of seeming this simplistic, there is always skepticism. You might think:
- “What do you want?”
- “How will this best serve me?”
- “What is the catch?”
- “How much will it cost?”
The answer to each of these questions is actually very simple: that depends on what YOU would like to get out of this exercise.
What an opportunity! A chance to carry on an open discussion on a topic of your choice, with no strings, and an agreement to take the conversation wherever it leads. You can identify good things, bad things, and things that need to improve.
The end goal; to arrive at a place where progress can be made, under terms of next steps that are agreed upon by all involved.
Conversation is as simple as a dialogue between 2 people. The ground rules are quite minimal when it gets down to it. Both parties should have a willingness to talk, to be open about the topics that are brought to the surface, and to advance the conversation in a manner that is productive for all, on terms that do not seem awkward. That does not mean there will not be hard or tough discussions, but it does mean that there is respect for the opportunity to converse.
